Residents using Telstra mobile phones in Gaythorne, Michelton and Everton Park will be unable to make or receive calls and texts on their devices, including calls to emergency services, for several days over the next 5 weeks.
The disruptions are thanks to work happening at Brookside Shopping Centre forcing Telstra's mobile base station to be shut down temporarily, and other providers with towers on the centre's roof will also be affected.
According to a statement on the Telstra website, disruptions to mobile services are expected to occur between 6am-6pm Monday to Friday, while services will be in operation on weekends.
Gaythorne residents will be affected between Tuesday, January 30 and Friday, February 9.
For Mitchelton, services will be impacted from Monday, February 12 until Thursday, February 22.
In Everton Park the disruption will occur between Friday, February 23 and Wednesday, March 7.
A Telstra spokesperson has said that they are doing "everything possible to minimise disruptions", while customers with compatible devices can activate Telstra Wi-Fi Calling, which allows you to make and take calls when connected to a Wi-Fi network.
Payphones in the affected areas will also be providing free local, mobile and national calls during the disruption periods.
