The headline was always going to be too good to be true: "The end of the Pap smear is good for women". What we think is a Pap smear in our heads, doctors surgery, awkward conversation, discomfort stays the same though it may be less frequent. What changes is the testing that's done afterwards and what they are looking for.
Also worth noting the age for the testing has been raised from 18 to 25.
