The Bendigo County Court’s sentenced a Kangaroo Flat man who stole a ute and four firearms from an Axedale property before crashing two vehicles last November to 12 months jail.

25 year old Blake John Flower also received a 18 month community corrections order, which include him receiving treatment for mental health issues and drug addiction as well as a 1500 fine.

It’s in relation to the crime spree across Bendigo on November 22nd last year, with judge Mark Dean saying Flower would’ve faced 3 years jail time if he hadn’t pleaded guilty to 14 charges

The Bridge Hotel in Echuca’s looking to become a late night venue, hosting live music, according to a town planning application available to the public until Wednesday.

The venue on Hopwood Place currently operates as a restaurant and café sitting up to 165 people and it’s pushing for the Campaspe Shire council to increase that to 500 people.

The license amendment would also see the licensed area expanded and as well as the sale of takeaway alcohol - objections to the plan can be made until Wednesday at the council website.

The Business Council says the competitiveness of regional Australian businesses against others around the world will be risked if the company tax rate isn't reduced.

It's currently sitting at 30 per cent with BCA estimates saying lowering the rate by 5 per cent could inject 17 billion dollars into the economy, creating new jobs and investment.

Business Council CEO Jennifer Westacott's calling on the Senate to implement the changes to give regions businesses a helping hand.
