The Mount Lofty Climb's Getting An Upgrade

It'll be a tougher climb up Mount Lofty Summit from next year.

The hiking trail will get $2.5 million of restoration works in 2018.

Creeks will be stabilised, boardwalks put in, stonework and trail resurfacing.

Upgrades will force the 600,000 people who use the trail each year to climb steeper, longer and more challenging routes.

Those severe storms in September last year caused major landslide damage to the track.

Walkers should allow up to 4.5 hours for a return trip compared with the recommended 3.

Works should be completed by September 2018.
