SA Police Launch New Campaign To Target Annoying Drivers

Make sure you keep to the left today!

SA Police have kicked off a new campaign targeting specific road rules.

They'll focus on a different law on one day each month.

“We know that in addition to the Fatal Five, there are behaviours on the road that can cause frustration for other motorists and road users,” Inspector Ben Spencer, the acting Officer in Charge of the SA Police Traffic Support Branch said.

Traffic Thursday starts today with a focus on drivers who fail to keep to the left on a multi-lane road where the speed limit is 80km/hr or above.

“This road rule is a prime example of the type of issue we are seeking to highlight, it's regularly committed and can lead to tailgating and road rage incidents" he said.

The fine for this offence is $252 plus a $60 Victims of Crime levy.

Other laws to be looked at in the coming months include failing to indicate, following too close, roundabout behaviour or not stopping at stop signs.

Police also encourage anyone witnessing dangerous driving to report this to Traffic Watch by calling 131 444 as soon as it is safe to do so.
