After talks with the Holdfast Bay Council and local member Duncan McFetridge, the Transport Department has agreed to push back the closure to May 15.
Works will happen around the clock until completion on June 9.
While Jetty Road will be closed to traffic between Brighton Road and Moseley Square, pedestrian access to local businesses will be as normal.
Tram services will terminate at Stop 15 (Brighton Road) during the upgrade and bus services re-routed.
