It's hard to believe that it was 112 years ago when the Gold Coast Show first brought its Dagwood dog and fluffy farm friends to the Gold Coast.
Fast forward to 2018 and there's some big and exciting changes for the expected 65,000 people to walk through the gates this long weekend.
Kicking off on Friday 31st until Father's Day on Sunday 2nd all the usual suspects will be on show including baby farm animals, arts and crafts, wood chopping, side-show alley, equestrian and of course, the epic show bag pavilion.
But it's the new kids on the block that are bound to turn the most heads...
Here are some of the newest attractions and BIG reasons why you can't miss out on the show this year:
The Broadwater Parklands in Southport will be the new home of the show everyday from 9am - 9pm, making it the first time in history an agricultural show will be held by the waterfront. It'll host all the main entertainment across the three days and have a beach backdrop to boot.
You'll also notice another footprint on your trusty show map - Owen Park and the Southport Pony Club nearby will be the second satellite location allowing the show to bring back a full equestrian program including cattle competitions and a not-to-be-missed dog show.
For the first time in the show history entry will be completely free, making it easier than ever before for families to go every day across the long weekend. And better yet, it's a cheap and fun way to spoil dad this Sunday for Father's Day with more spending money to enjoy on rides and those tasty carnival treats.
Spectacular Night Show
Brought to you by the masterminds behind Sydney's wildly popular 'VIVID' light show, the Gold Coast Show is set to light up Broadwater Parklands and Southport CBD with its very own dancing light installation, colourful fireworks and a spectacular laser and holographic show. The nightly feast for the senses will light up the night from 6pm - 9pm every day.
This year, The Gold Coast show has teamed up with Australia Fair to support Yoga 4 Digity, an inspiring group who help make a difference to homeless women in Australia. They're also be a star attraction as this years show. On Saturday from 7am - 8am, start your show day with a stretch on the Great Lawn at Broadwater Parklands with Yoga for $20. The perfect way to burn off all that second round of fairy floss...
Once you've entered the show for FREE, the kids rides will cost around $5-$7. However, word is that ride operators have teamed up to offer discounted multi-passes throughout the day for those who want to keep spinning, sliding and thrilling into the night. Just enquire at the ticketing booth.
They'll be big rides, with even bigger acts. This year, show-goers will be treated to a massive line-up of entertainment on the Great Lawn at Broadwater Parklands with a star-studded line up including Casey Barnes on Friday, Ivey on Saturday and Peach Fur on Sunday. Bring your best dancing shoes, you're going to need them...
