Wednesday July 24th is WORLD TEQUILA DAY.

Any excuse to celebrate, right? Now – where to get the tequila? You could go on a trip down memory lane and grab a cheap bottle with the red sombrero hat and slam it back with lemon and salt!!! But let’s be honest, it is time to treat yourself with the good gold so here are some of the best joints in Sydney to enjoy tequila.

Post

TIOS

It may look a little shady from the outside, but inside you will be warmed up with Tio’s fun decor and fairy lights, and not to mention over 100 varieties of tequila. The bartenders know their stuff and will be able to whip you up a cocktail that will tickle even a tequila haters fancy. They also have free popcorn. Tequila. Free popcorn. That’s a win from me. Lucia Rodriguez, Tequila Expert and Brand Associate for Milagro Tequila highly recommends Tios as well. And she is like a tequila expert so make sure you go here!

Where? 4-14 Foster St, Surry Hills.

MEJICO

It's World Tequila Week at Mejico and they are showcasing their huge range all week and with over 200 types there’s lots to choose from. This Mexican restaurant in the heart of the city also serves up some of the best Mexican in Sydney. Having trouble making a decision? Then spin the Tequila Wheel and let it take you on a fun journey. Eat ANY of the ceviche, if you haven’t tried his mouth-watering fish dish you haven’t lived. They also make the guacamole at your table! They smash avo, chilli, onion and coriander to your liking. The whole experience from start to finish at Mejico is a must.

Where? 105 Pitt Street, Sydney

BARRIO CELLAR

When you get to the website and it says ‘Everything with Tequila’ you know you are in for a wild ride folks. They have HUGE list of tequilas to choose from which you can enjoy straight or mix it up with their Signature Cocktails. Props to the Rhubarbra Streisand, Stealth Margarita and Bloody Maria which get our ticks of approval. Their food is top notch Mexican with an impressive choice of tacos, quesadillas, nachos, burgers, burritos and bowls. They are open from 12pm, so what are YOU doing for lunch today? Wanna join me?

Where? The Basement. 58 Elizabeth street, Sydney.

TEQUILA MOCKINGBIRD

Located at Paddington’s Five Ways in a gorgeous terrace this is the perfect place for a yummy feed and cosy drink with a loved one. Your tastebuds can enjoy the chefs traditional twist on Latin American dishes. From their Raw Bar to Street Eats, Flame Grill and Garden you are sure to find something to happy your appetite. With Tequila in their name, they don’t disappoint with plenty to wet your tequila craving palette.

Where? 6 Heeley Street, Paddington

SO CAL

Owners Hamish and Ben ate and drank their way thru California bringing back the inspo to open up this place. The laid back vibe and Californian surf theme add to the whole experience. The So Cal BBQ is a must…mouth-watering meats like chickens, lamb, pulled pork and beef brisket cooked low and slow. But you know keeping in theme with today why not try the Tequila salmon with green tomato, smoked cream and crisp corn bread. Wash it down with one of their tequila choices, or go a little fancy and try one of their Signature Cocktails. Love spice? Don’t miss their Spicy Senorita with jalapeno infused tequila #GETINMYMOUTH

Where? 1 Young Street, Neutral Bay
