To continue their journey from power tools to empowerment, Port Macquarie Women’s Shed Inc. (PMWS), have needed to find a permanent space to meet and hold workshops for members.
The not-for-profit group established in 2016, has over 1,500 Facebook members and 52 financial members, quickly becoming an integral part of the Port Macquarie community.
Women in the group, have expressed interest to participate in workshops that include woodwork, metalwork, and mechanical, as well as traditional women’s activities like sewing, soap making, crotchet, knitting and candle making that are both affordable and inclusive.
To meet this need, Port Macquarie Community College (PMCC) and MakerSpace have supported the progress of the shed by partnering with PMWS to offer a permanent space to provide a range of low-cost workshops and activities.
PMWS are having an official opening and the committee invite local women of all ages to come along this Sunday, 6th May 2018 between 10am and 2pm at 4 Albert Circuit, Port Macquarie.
The open day will be a chance to view the space, find out about membership, and meet current members.
