Across the month, Chinese New Year festivities have been in full swing across the city.
This Friday March 2, celebrations traditionally come to an end with a spectacular and very colourful Lantern Festival.
People across the world who celebrate are encouraged to go out and look up to the moon, send up flying lanterns, fly bright drones, have a meal, and all-in-all... enjoy time together!
The 5th Hobart Chinese Lantern Festival will be held at Hobart City Hall with free cultural activities and performances.
To promote Hobart's multicultural society, the organisers have extended an invitation to Hobart communities so the multi-cultural diversity of the city can truly shine.
The evening will include martial arts displays, modern dance performances, a traditional Chinese costume show, concerts featuring traditional Chinese musical instruments, performances by local multicultural community groups, and of course, the famous lion dance.
