Don’t you just love Christmas – it’s a magical time of year especially when you watch Toowoomba CBD come alive with Christmas cheer.

As part of the Christmas in the CBD celebrations this Thursday, co-ordinated by Toowoomba Regional Council and Grand Central you get to witness just that.

Santa will be lighting up Town Hall at 7PM followed by The Mayor and Santa turning on the lights of the community Christmas tree in Grand Central’s new outdoor space Central Square at around 7.30pm.

Toowoomba’s brand new Christmas tree stands 35ft high and it will take around 20 staff 12 hours to install the outdoor tree.  The tree will be covered in around 25,000 LED lights with an Asteroid Tree Top Static Star measuring around 1.7 metres.

There will also be Christmas Markets on the night in Central Square – you can pick up some great Christmas presents from any of the 30 stallholders operating from 4PM giving you plenty of time to pick up that special gift you've been looking for.
