Lace up your runners and pull out the lycra - there's a massive running festival coming to town.

The town of Murgon located an hour West of Gympie in the South Burnett Region, will once again come alive when they host the annual Rail Trail Festival on Sunday 30th of September. 

From serious runners, leisurely walkers or those who just want to have some fun; the festival celebrates all the town has to offer with a marathon and mega obstacle course rolling out across the stunning 'Rail Trail' of Murgon.

The Rail Trail Fun Run Fever is a one-of-a-kind obstacle challenge based on one thing: having fun. 

Spread across three football fields, the 8 mega course includes an inflatable race course, mattress run, hurdles and the famous ninja wall making it one of the biggest obstacle courses ever to come to the bush.

Be prepared to wind your way through an imaginative and creative course across 60 minutes that is sure to challenge and surprise you.

For the gung-ho runners ready to work up a sweat, the full marathon kicks off the same day from 6am followed by a half, 10km and a 5km marathon along the breathtaking bush backdrop. 

The route takes participants along the Kingaroy to Kilkivan Rail Trail, along out and back routes starting at the Murgon trail head. Register for all Marathon routes here.

Fun for whole family, the festival has something for everyone with live entertainment, markets, food and wine and a stack of activities for the little ones.
