Looking for something to do for Australia Day in the capital tomorrow? There’s plenty of ways to celebrate…

AUSTRALIA DAY IN THE CAPITAL

Things kick off with the Great Aussie Breakfast at 7:30am at Commonwealth Park, with heaps of free entertainment!

Families will love the Sing Australia Choir, Dora the Explorer, jumping castles, face painting and soccer darts.

At 9am, Canberra will welcome our newest Australian citizens at the National Flag Raising and Citizenship ceremony at Rond Terrace, with a traditional flyover and 21 gun salute.

There’ll be heaps of free pre-fireworks entertainment at Regatta Point between 4pm and 9pm, including an appearance by the Queens Baton Relay, as it makes its way around Lake Burley Griffin.

Other activities at Patrick White Lawns and Rond Terrace include kids picnic games, a giant slide, jumping castle, face painting and glitter tattoos!

You can also grab a bite to eat and refreshing drink, with a number of vendors offering plenty of delicious goodies.

Warm up those vocal chords for the concert at Regatta Point from 6pm-9pm!

Justice Crew headline the live acts, with other fantastic performances by popular locals Tuchasoul and pop duo Jess & Matt.

Then of course comes the spectacular fireworks display at 9pm, with the best vantage points at Regatta Point and Patrick White Lawns.

It’ll be a sight to see, as the dazzling display lights up Lake Burley Griffin and some of Canberra’s iconic buildings.

Some things to keep in mind as you plan your trip…

Transport Canberra will operate to a Sunday timetable, with free bus runs from Commonwealth Avenue bus stops after the fireworks wrap up.

The buses will take passengers to Gungahlin Marketplace, the City, Belconnen, Tuggeranong and Woden bus stations until about 10:15pm.

The best places to snag a car park will be at the Parliamentary Triangle car parks, Civic Pool car park and Anzac Parade East and West car parks.
