So it turns out, dogs do get you dates!

Canberra’s first ‘Dating with Dogs’ event has proven to be a hit – with a sold out crowd and a few potential match ups!

Tatum Brown, who set up the Adopt Don’t Shop Foundation to help local rescue animal groups by hosting dog-related events, was thrilled with the turnout.

About 50 people attended the event for 30-40 year olds – with more events for other age groups in the pipeline.

“There were some number exchanges that I saw going on and lots of love with the dogs,” Tatum said.

“We also had a possible adoption of one of the foster dogs that were there.”

The event that focuses on connecting singles with other singles and rescue organisations with potential adoptees raised over $2,500.

50% of those profits go back into the Best Friends Pet Rescue organisation.

“So that goes towards saving dogs due for euthanasia at pounds, medical bills, fees for caring for these dogs and transport from shelter to their new families,” Tatum said.

“The rest goes back into the Adopt Don’t Shop Foundation so we can continue to host these kinds of events.”

So, how can you get involved?

There’s two other Dating with Dogs events coming up this month – one on May 20 for 20-30 year olds and the other of May 27 for over 40’s.
