If you like helping the environment and eating ice cream – there’s an event in Canberra that’s right up your alley today!

Ben & Jerry’s has teamed up with climate change action group 350.org Australia, to launch a campaign urging us to lobby our leaders to commit to divesting from fossil fuels.

Locals can sign a petition and learn more about the campaign at QT Hotel from 6pm-8pm today.

The Ben & Jerry’s scoop truck will also be there handing out delicious ice cream!

It’s part of a national tour, teaching people around the country about why fossil fuel divestment will make an impact on tackling climate change and how to take action.

You might be wondering – what’s the connection between Ben & Jerry’s and 350.org Australia?

As part of the campaign, the legendary ice cream makers have revealed how fossil fuel divestment will help sustain the production of their famous ice cream into the future.

After all, how devastating would it be to not be able to experience all that deliciousness?

The company has warned many of its popular flavours are ‘endangered’ as a result of climate change and could be gone as soon as 2020.

Flavours like Chunky Monkey and Coconut Seven Layer Bar face extinction, as nut trees need sufficient cold temperatures to grow.

While, Brownie Batter and Phish Food could be in short supply in just two years with cocoa production at risk of falling by up to 50% due to increasingly harsh environmental conditions.

We must not let this happen!

Head along to QT Hotel from 6pm to show your support!
