French toast. Sweet, savoury or a combination of both – it always seems to hit the spot.
Luckily for all the french toast lovers out there, there’s certainly no shortage of Canberra café’s that have it on their menu.
We’ve compiled a list of some of the best to get you started on your french toast journey around the capital…
Stand By Me in Lyons is an absolute stand-out. The friendly staff like to change up their flavours and are well known for their inventive creations.
Some of their recent flavour combos are..
- Bitter chocolate mousse, bourbon buttermilk caramel, pecan butter and backyard figs
- Cherry and lemon curd
- Roast peach, pistachio custard and blackberry ice cream
- Vodka marshmallow, kahlua zabaglione and coffee crumb
- Pineapple, mango and passionfruit

Another stand-out is Penny University Café in Kingston. Their Banoffee Croissant French Toast is to die for!
It comes with banana, crushed peanuts, vanilla whipped mascarpone, caramel popcorn, salted caramel and shaved chocolate.
Turns out, it’s in hot demand!
Trevs at Dickson serves up a super yummy Brioche French Toast with two amazing flavour combos – vanilla mascarpone and blueberry compote or bacon and maple syrup.
