If you’re like many other Bendigo residents and have recently received text messages warning of network upgrades taking place in the area and the possible disruption they will cause, you’re not alone in wondering what it all means. Luckily, we’ve gotten to the bottom of it for you.

It’s no secret we all love streaming on our mobile devices whether it’s Netflix, YouTube, Spotify or iTunes. In fact, we love streaming so much that every year we’re doing it roughly 50% more than we were the previous.

This ultimately leads to huge increases in data requirements for the network meaning something needs to be done to keep us all online.

Luckily, Telstra are obliging.

The answer to faster data speeds across mobile devices is to improve and upgrade local base stations. This is what’s been happening around Bendigo.

Often it’ll mean the base stations have to be briefly switched off which can result in potential interruptions. Having said that, Telstra make it their first priority to do all they can within their power to minimise the impact it will have on their customers.

“We apologise for any disruption, but the outcome is great!”

- Steve Tinker, Telstra Area General Manager

With the latest round of upgrades expected to be completed by this month, you don’t have much longer to wait until faster data speeds are at your door and you can watch as many cat videos as your heart desires!

More speed in more places makes Telstra the best and most reliable mobile network in Australia. For more information visit one of Bendigo’s local Telstra Stores.
