Forget the OTT wedding - this year is all about going back to nature.

From camp weddings and messy updos to pretzel stations and cultural honeymoons, it's time to think outside the wedding box this season.

We've teamed up with The Country Bridal Collective ahead of the CBC Wedding Festival in Bendigo to hunt down the biggest wedding trends of 2018/19.

Here are trends you can't be ignored if you're about to tie the knot:

The Big Day Attire

Hello comfort my old friend. Brides and Grooms are heading back to basics this wedding season.

Move over long trail and fancy veil, this years wedding season is taking it down a few notches. According to trend spotters, brides and grooms will be heading back to basics this season, proving comfort really is key. High-neck lines, boleros, sleeves, flat shoes and even jumpsuits are plastering our Instagram bridal feeds. Non-traditional attire is now the star of the party with Champagne coloured wedding dresses taking over the classic white. As for the dashing groom - dapper tweed suits and tie-free ensembles are adding extra personality to any fashionable ceremony.

Flower Power

Vibrant colours and risky arrangements will dominate this season's flower obsession.

It's unsurprising, but flowers are still the heartbeat of any wedding. From suspended flowers to flowery cocktails and extravagant centre pieces, it's time to think outside the box this season. Vibrant colours, risky arrangements, floral trees, large hanging statement pieces and potted plants - florists sure have their work cut out for them!

The Decor

This year we're taking the alter outside, letting nature become the backdrop for every happy snap and every detail. So much so, that camp weddings are on the rise with wedding games being played in the humble outdoors. Even creative place cards and escort cards on tables have a DIY "natural" touch. Unconventional materials like acrylic signs, DIY confetti and cement accents are creeping in offering a simple, minimalist look and feel.

Hair and Beauty

The undone updo is dominating the bridal world.

Every bride wants to feel like royalty as they walk down the aisle. So, it may come as no surprise that royal wedding are a dominate factor in any wedding trends. When Princess Diana got married, long trains became the thing; when Kate Middleton rocked classic vintage, the bridal world went bananas over it. So when Meghan Markle rocked a messy updo in May - it obviously rubbed off. According to Pinterest, the hairstyle is up 1247 per cent in bridal land.

After Party

Midnight taco anyone?

Now this is a trend we're all hoping sticks around for a while. Who has ever been to a reception only to find themselves hungry again by 11:30pm? Luckily for us, there's been an turn in the art of nuptial noms. Careful attention is now being placed on keeping stomachs full at the after party. We're talking pizza bars, pretzels stations and food trucks able to serve up snacks to party-goers until the wee hours of the morning.

The Cake

The attire might be taking it down a notch and they're not the only ones. Gone are the days where the 6-tier, triple frosting don't-want-to-eat-it-because-it's-a-work-of-art velvet cake will outshine you on the big day. Fig cakes and minimal white frosting are making a comeback, and between you and me, they're a lot tastier.

A Cultured Honeymoon

Now that all the wedding festivities are behind you, it's time to get you and your new beau get some R&R. Many honeymooners are saying goodbye to fun-in-the-sun and hello to a more cultured destination. Switzerland, African Safari and a romantic Bali escape are in demand. Adios love-birdies!
