Greater Bendigo residents will be able to dispose of green waste for free this autumn at both the Eaglehawk and Heathcote Landfills on the weekends of April 28 and 29 and May 26 and 27.
The City is providing the free green waste disposal weekends to encourage residents to clear their properties before the cooler winter months.
City of Greater Bendigo Presentation and Assets Director Debbie Wood said the free green waste disposal weekends are a good opportunity for residents to get rid of excess green waste that won’t fit in their organics bin and for rural residents who don’t receive an organics service.
“The City encourages residents to take advantage of this free opportunity to dispose of their green waste,” Ms Wood said.
“These weekends can be particularly busy at the landfill and we ask residents to be patient and follow directions from the staff when dropping off their green waste.”
Only green waste from private households will be accepted free of charge. Commercial businesses will be charged the normal disposal fees.
The Eaglehawk Landfill is open on weekends from 8am until 4.30pm while Heathcote landfill is open from 8.30am – 5pm.
