Young Couple Carjacked In Mercedes On Darby Street
Police have made an arrest..
UPDATE: A 32-year-old Waratah West man has now been charged over the alleged carjacking and refused bail ahead of facing Newcastle Court today.
EARLIER:
A young couple has been the victim of a terrifying carjacking in Cooks Hill.
The pair, both aged 24, were driving down Darby Street just before 8:30pm last night, when a man threw something at their Mercedes Benz.
The male victim got out and chased the accused.
The alleged offender then ran back to the car and pulled the female victim out of the driver's seat, before driving off.
Police arrested the 32 year old man about two hours later. He's also accused of committing an aggravated break-in at a nearby property.
He'll face Newcastle Local Court today.
