A stern warning was issued to any outsiders thinking of travelling to the Central Coast amid Sydney’s 14-day lockdown.

Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast, Adam Crouch, urged holidaymakers to stay away.

“With the school holidays well and truly underway, it’s a timely reminder that, if the Central Coast is not your primary place of residence, you need to return home now. Under the current [NSW] Public Health order, taking a holiday does not constitute a reasonable excuse. As such, you should be leaving the Central Coast and returning home.”

Central Coast businesses began bracing for the worst last week, as the initial round of Covid-19 regulations were announced for the region.

The restrictions were introduced just days before the school holidays were set to kick-off across the country.

Prospective visitors from Western AustraliaSouth Australia and Queensland had already cancelled bookings, with the states slamming their borders shut to either Sydney or the entirety of New South Wales last week.
