If you have been to the shops in the last couple of days you would have noticed that essentials have been bare and while our thoughts are definitely with our mates in Townsville. Due to the roads being cut off we have also felt the effects of this monsoon.

This is the latest from Tina Anandji, Woolworths Northern Queensland Operations Manager:

Our teams are working hard to ensure we can continue providing fresh food and key essentials to the Cairns community.

While the road access has been challenging, we’ve secured two charter planes to carry 30,000 tonnes of fresh food and essential items into Cairns on Tuesday, with more to follow in the days ahead.

We'll continue to do all we can to get stock into Far North Queensland while the roads are cut, so our customer can shop with the confidence we’ll have stock as and when they need it.

We know it’s a stressful time for many, and thank our customers for their patience as our teams work to fill shelves and serve local shoppers.

·         All Cairns stores are open and trading.

·         Ingham stores are trading and receiving stock from Townsville with a delivery expected around midday today.

·         Ayr stores are receiving supplies from Brisbane by road. Stores are open and trading.
