My mum LOVES her tea. If I were to count how many cups she likes to ‘relax’ with per day, I’d lose count.

I usually tease her for being so bloody obsessed with her tea, but it turns out that her obsession might be helping her to live longer… and it might explain why she hardly seems to have aged since bringing me into this world…

According to a study from researchers at the University of Western Australia, published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, which you can find HERE, if you drink an average of two cups of tea a day, you’ll live longer than those who aren’t tea drinkers!

Researchers monitored the health of more than 1000 women in their seventies and eighties, tracking their diets and consumption of tea and coffee. They found that of the 88% of women still alive at the end of the study, the women who drank tea were more than 40% more likely to live longer.

Why? A plant pigment found in tea, flavonoids, is mainly to thank for this find! It’s also found in chocolate, blueberries, broccoli, apples, strawberries, and wine! This natural antioxidant helps to boost your health and reduce inflammation and pain, and two cups of tea provides the highest dosage of it!

Not only this, but tea is a good stress reliever, too!

I’m a coffee drinker, through and through, and there have been a tonne of studies that suggest coffee can help you live longer, too. It looks like my mum and I are both set for life then!
