Women Killed By Falling Tree In Parkville

A woman is dead after a tree fell on her in inner Melbourne.

Ambulance Victoria was called to Royal Parade, Parkville, about 8.30am on Monday.

The woman believed to be in her 30s was sent to Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition, Ambulance Victoria said.

Victoria Police confirmed about 10am the woman died in hospital.

"Police will prepare a report for the coroner after a woman was struck by a tree in Parkville this morning," the force said in a statement.

"It is understood she was located with critical injuries about 8.30am and transported to hospital where she later died."

No one else was injured in the incident.

Part of Royal Parade has been closed to traffic while emergency services remain on scene.
