A woman and her baby have been trapped in a lift at a shopping centre in Sydney's North Shore following a power outage.
Emergency crews received the call just after midday when power went out to some 26,000 homes and businesses.
The woman was stuck in a lift off Hunter Street in Hornsby at the time power was interrupted.
The power issue has been caused by a substation fire at Bridge Road, Hornsby.
The trapped mother and child were freed by 12.45pm.
Emergency crews, Fire and Rescue NSW and NSW Police responded to a fire in the cable basement of the Hornsby zone substation which has cut power to 26,000 customers in the Upper North Shore and the Hills District. Power supply was interrupted in parts of Hornsby, Waitara, Asquith, Hornsby Heights, Wahroonga, Galston, Thornleigh, Mount Colah and Normanhurst shortly before midday today. Ausgrid crews are assessing the level of the damage caused by the fire before commencing work to restore power safely. Ausgrid apologises for the disruption and thanks customers for their patience.
