The colourful celebrations of Chinese New Year are here! We are going into the Year of the Dog, so expect a lot of themes to that name.
Here are some of the spots around town to check out to make sure you enjoy the party while it’s here.
1. Box Hill Central, Box Hill
The shopping centre is going all out this year including art installations and more across February. On Saturday 17th, it all kicks off at 11am with parades and performances, ending with a firecracker show and a dragon dance extravaganza.
2. Queensbridge Square, Southbank
On Friday 16th, head down to the Yarra River after work to see 300 performers, including martial arts, lion dancing and a massive flash mob. Queensbridge Square will also light up for White Night on Saturday 17th.
3. Melbourne Emporium, Melbourne
The centre will show off their Pagoda installation which will honour the Chinese tradition of giving and receiving red envelopes. Shoppers who spend $288 or over can visit the set-up and reveal their zodiac fortune.
4. Crown Casino, Southbank
Crown has decorated their flame towers to look like fire breathing dragons. There will also be incredible decorations in the atrium until early March.
