It's crazy to think 2019 is just around the corner. There will be heaps of events happening around town, including the HUGE firework show in the CBD. Thousands are expected to head into the city, so it’s smart to plan ahead.

Here is what you need to know...

Firstly, the celebration is an alcohol-free event. If you're caught with a drink in your hand, you could be starting the year with a hefty fine.

There will be four official live sites around town. Here you’ll find music, food, bathrooms and first aid. City of Melbourne recommends choosing one of the live sites as a destination – especially if you are planning to take public transport.

Here is information on the live sites…

$3.4million will go into the event - the majority going towards operations, safety and security.

Can’t make it to midnight? There will be a 9.30pm fireworks show at Yarra Park from 6pm-10pm. The program includes a screening of Toy Story 3, and we can ALL get around that movie.
