We Saw Halloween & Got No Sleep Last Night

It was BLOODY awesome!

Firstly, (apart from the original 1978 film), forget every other Halloween movie you have ever seen!

Forget that the lead character Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) has been dead, has been brought back to life, she’s had a son OR that she’s been related to serial killer Michael Myers…..JUST FORGET IT ALL!

Halloween asks us to accept that none of the sequels ever even happened, but constantly reminds us that they did with countless references.

Taking place 40 years after the original iconic slasher film by John Carpenter where Laurie Strode survived a vicious attack from crazed killer Michael Myers on Halloween Night. Locked up in an institution, Myers manages to escape when his bus transfer goes horribly wrong. Laurie now faces a terrifying showdown when the masked madman returns to Haddonfield, but this time, is Laurie and her family prepared?

Now I’m going to put this out there, I don’t get scared in horror films….BUT Halloween had me on the edge of my seat and curling up in a ball like a little kid trying to deal with all the gruesome murders that take place throughout! I (may have) screamed, I definitely laughed, and I would go see it again!

Watch out for the amazing babysitter scene where Vicky (Virginia Gardner) and Julian (Jibrail Nantambu) run the risk of stealing the show with their incredible onscreen chemistry and performances, or the single sequence camera shot scene of Michael Myers walking from house to house on a killing spree. Absolutely brilliant!

However, the most powerful element of this movie is the #metoo nod to the strong performances by 3 lead women with daughter to Laurie - Karen (Judy Greer) and granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak), not to mention the bad ass grandma that is Jamie Lee Curtis! Jamie even sent out a viral tweet paying tribute to the “Biggest horror movie opening with a female lead”

If your sitting at home wondering how a man with a knife is still scary in a world overrun by men with guns, do yourself and make this the next movie you go and see! Just be sure to wear two pairs of underwear!
