Two women have been physically attacked and had a "substance" thrown on them inside a property in Melbourne's southeast.

The victims, aged 44 and 29, were assaulted by two women they knew inside the Monteith Crescent property at Endeavour Hills about 11.45pm on Thursday, police said.

They were taken to Dandenong Hospital with upper and lower body injuries after having a "substance" thrown on them, while their attackers remain on the run.

The 29-year-old victim was discharged from hospital on Friday, while the 44-year-old is still in Dandenong Hospital in a stable condition.

Emergency services would not confirm if the injuries included chemical burns from a substance such as acid.
