Two people have been killed in a two vehicle crash on the South Arm Highway at Lauderdale.

The crash occurred at around 5.30pm last night (Sunday the 14th of May) just prior to the intersection of Forest Hill Road.

 

The crash occurred when the driver of a green Subaru station wagon travelling south lost control and crossed to the incorrect side of the road.  The Subaru traveled passenger side first into the path of a north bound Ford Ranger.

 

The Subaru was being driven by a 45 year old man from South Arm with a 48 year old female passenger from Dodges Ferry killed instantly in the crash.  The Subaru driver was treated at the scene by members of the public, but he died at the scene.

 

The driver of the Ford a 31 year old man from Howrah received minor injuries and was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital for treatment before being released.

The road was blocked in both directions for a number of hours, before being reopened at around 10 o clock last night.

 

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the crash, which brings this year’s state road toll to 8, compared to 18 at the same time last year.
