Two people have been injured after a gas pipe exploded in a town west of Melbourne.

Two explosions were reported at Maddingley, near Bacchus March. Police say the incident was a workplace accident.

Vic Emergency say the explosion was caused by a gas leak, this is currently being investigated by fire crews.

A teenage boy was seriously injured and has been taken to hospital in Melbourne, while a man was also injured.
