A truck driver has been taken to hospital after smashing into a car in Yarrabilba, north of Tamborine this morning.

The man in his 50s lost consciousness after the crash at the corner of Waterford Tamborine and Camp Cable Roads at 7:15am, but woke up a short time later.

Luckily an off-duty paramedic was one of the first people to arrive at the scene and was able to help out and care for the patient until emergency crews arrived.

He also assisted another man in his 20s who suffered leg injuries in the crash.

The injured truckie was transported to the PA Hospital in Brisbane in a serious condition, while the younger man was taken to Logan Hospital in a stable condition.
