Two 13-year-old's have been charged following the alleged stealing of a car in Kanimbla.

Two males aged 13-years both from Manoora, have been charged by officers from the Property Crime Squad after they were located fleeing from an alleged stolen car in Kanimbla around midday yesterday.

Police will allege the pair were involved in the theft of the Ford dual cab from a Hymes Street residence sometime between April 15 and 16.

It will be further alleged that the vehicle was driven throughout the Cairns area before returning to the suburb of Kanimbla where they were arrested by police conducting patrols in the area.

The vehicle was recovered in a damaged state and was towed for further forensic examination.

Both youths were charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle. One of the boys was further charged with burglary, receiving tainted property and unlicenced driving.

Police investigations are continuing.
