The light rail will be running in overdrive during the Commonwealth Games.

G:link services will run day and night throughout the 12-day event from April 4 to April 15.

There will also be a tram scheduled every six minutes during peak event periods.

It's just one of the ways GOLDOC hopes to keep cars and crowds moving during the major sporting event.

Train services in Brisbane and on the Sunshine Coast will also be cut over the period, so more drivers and trains can be deployed to the Gold Coast.

GOLDOC chair Peter Beattie is once again encouraging everyone to plan ahead now.

You can check out the updated public transport timetables and road closures here.

"Please take a look; we want this to be a best event possible and we want you to be inconvenienced as little as possible," said Mr Beattie.

"That's why we spent all this time and all this money, to make sure this works, but we need people to actually do that".
