Minister for Tourism, Paul Papalia, has defended Indian Ocean Drive in the aftermath of another tragic accident that has claimed the lives of three people.

The notorious stretch of road has attracted attention for the number of fatal accidents there, with calls for it to be made into a dual carriageway.

Mr Papalia said driver behaviour appears to be a factor.

"We're working all the time to make the roads safer, but ultimately the vast majority of people who drive on the roads don't get involved in crashes," he said.

The Lancelin Facebook page has many respondents debating the merit of such an idea.
