The Titans are in a massive battle to retain Chris McQueen amid a huge offer from Wests Tigers.

The former Origin backrower was reportedly offered a three-year $1.2 million deal to join the undersiege club, an offer Gold Coast are unlikely to match.

But CEO Graham Annesley said on Monday they will table a counter-offer to keep the 29-year-old in the sky-blue and gold.

"It's not always about money," he said.

"Chris is a Queenslander, we're a Queensland-based club, he loves this part of the world."
