The Maidenwell Woodchop is done and dusted for another year but it definitely won’t be the last with the event this year raising $14,000 for LifeFlight.

The little town of Maidenwell was taken over by nearly 300 people for the two-day festival with event organiser and South Burnett Councillor Gavin Jones said it was good weekend.

The dinner held on Saturday night was a huge success with more than 160 people attending.  The two-day wood chopping and post ripping competition had 150 people witness the battle of the chop at the Maidenwell Sports Ground with some of Australia's best competitors attending.

Competitors included Kilcoy's Nick Fredriksen, who is Australia's only one-armed competitive wood chopper.

Mr Fredriksen was airlifted more than 20 years ago after being involved in a serious farm accident which resulted in his left arm being amputated.

A great weekend and a great result.
