Think a mouse is the smallest animal there is? WRONG! Micro animals and bugs exist and they are quite terrifying. 

The great part is that unless you become a scientist, you’ll never have to see them face to face in real life. Although, we just checked them out online and they are the stuff of nightmares.

1. Tardigrade 

One of the most well-known of its kind, the ‘water bear’ is so indestructible it can cope with almost any type of pressure, and it can survive in space.

2. Springtail

Think it is a cutie? It is not! Springtails are known to be pests and can cause real damage to plants by chewing the roots in the soil. Luckily, they are harmless to humans.

3. Trombidiidae 

It might look pretty, but the Red Velvet Mite still packs a punch. The bright red colour is to warn predators off and they even eat each other!

4. Demodex Mites

This mite is probably living on your face and in your hair RIGHT NOW! It feeds on your dead skin cells, hormones and oils. These pests have been linked to the skin condition Rosacea.

5. Copepod

These tiny crustaceans are found in the sea and almost any freshwater habitat. In Tasmania, they have found 50 species of the sort in coastal waters. Unfortunately, they are an ideal snack for fish.
