World Square

Spring is coming and what better way to celebrate than with all things Japanese and pink.

The best part? It is all happening right in the middle of the CBD.

From August 12th to September 1st World Square will be transformed into a cherry blossom paradise and for the first time ever there will be an immersive augmented reality experience.

This year, there’ll also be real-life blossoms to interact with as well as the floating tech ones, plus other activities including traditional Japanese drumming, origami and bonsai workshops, calligraphy performance and Yosakoi Soran dancing.

And if you happen to consider yourself an origami guru or if you just want to learn the craft, there will be workshops available where visitors can even contribute to the thousand paper crane installation at the festival.

There will also be a range of delicious blossom inspired goodies to try at nearby retailers.

Oh! Matcha will be pouring sakura-flavoured milkshakes and soft-serve ice cream, the cherry themed cocktails will be flowing at Laughing Buddha Bar and Fratelli Fresh will be serving up Japanese inspired pizzas throughout the festival.

So, mark your calendars people this is a festival you won’t want to miss.
