The New Bin with the Lime Green Lid

A brand new bin

Article heading image for The New Bin with the Lime Green Lid

Very soon your general waste and recycling bin will be joined by one more - a lime green lidded organic waste bin!

This will be happening around September this year and it'll be used for food and garden scraps - (very handy if you have a bit of grass at your place and you constantly fill up your normal bin every time you mow..)

From the City of Greater Bendigo Website: Residents will receive a new 240 litre (lime green lid) organics waste bin which will bring the total number of bins at your property to three.

An information guide, kitchen caddy and compostable caddy liners will also be delivered with your new 240 litre (lime green lid) organics bin to help you understand the new system and to avoid contaminating the new service.

The new three bin kerbside collection will now consist of:

  • FORTNIGHTLY collection of your 240 litre lime green lid organics bin
  • FORTNIGHTLY collection of your 240 litre/360 litre yellow or blue lid recycling bin
  • WEEKLY collection of your red or dark green lid waste bin

The additional cost above your normal waste fees to introduce the organics collection service for the 2016/2017 financial year is $63. This figure is based on a full year service and because the service is not due to commence until September the actual charge on this year’s rates notice will be less.
