The stats are in and the Hunter is one of the luckiest places in New South Wales when it comes to winning Lotto!

The Hunter and Central Coast region has come in at second place for wins this year, with 18 division one winning entries equalling a massive $41,107,878 in prize money..

Georgetown and Waratah's postcode of 2298, has been the second luckiest postcode for 2017, with three division one wins, totalling $11,666,666 in prize money.

The biggest local win was $15,000,000 from a ticket bought from the Newcastle City Newsagency.

NSW lotteries spokeperson Matt Hart said 77 people from New South Wales became millionaires this year - the most out of all other states and territories.

“2017 will long be remembered by many as a year of big wins for lottery players across New South Wales.

"From truck drivers to teachers, retirees to retail workers, each division one winner had a unique story to tell about what their windfall meant to them and their loved ones,” he said.

Branxton and Redhead/Whitebridge also made it onto the hotspot list, with two winners each.
