This week, climate change protest group ‘Extinction Rebellion’ made headlines after staging protests which halted traffic in cities around the world, from New York to Amsterdam and Adelaide.

During our show this morning, Environment Minister David Spears called through to make it known that he is against the protests.

“They never tell me, as the Environment Minister, what they want,” he claimed. “I wonder if [they protest] just for the sake of it sometimes.”

He continued, advising, “the best way to cool the city is to plant a tree in the median strip out the front of your house or in your backyard.”

The conversation had our listeners and even Bec and Cosi divided.
