Ice cream is one of the best (and most delicious) ways to cool down over Summer and Melbourne is killing it in the frozen treat department.

These are some spots you must put on your bucket list for the coming months...

1. Sundae School, Caulfield North

From the people who brought you Tuck Shop take away, this store will take you back to your school days with a menu so naughty it might send you to detention.

2. Il Melograno, Northcote

This gelato is made with no preservatives, so the ice cream is hidden away in an airtight chamber. The menu boasts many different things, but we think the sweets take the cake!

3. Davey Mac’s, Black Rock

Perfect for a treat after a beach day, Davey Mac’s is a local favourite. They even have dairy-free options for those who don’t get to dive into ice cream as often as they wish.

4. Billy van Creamy, Fitzroy North

This place has a lot of fun stuff, including iced coffee, milkshakes, ice cream sandwiches and even dessert burgers! Your Instagram likes will be through the roof!

5. Pidapipó Gelateria, Carlton

Treat yourself to some gelato made by someone who trained a gelato university – we didn’t even know that was a thing! To make it better, they’ve got Nutella ON TAP!

6. Jock’s Ice Cream and Sorbets, Albert Park

Jock’s has become a Melbourne fave, especially when it comes to their chocolate and hokey pokey flavours. Be sure to try an ice cream sandwich, they are divine!

7. 7apples, St Kilda

You can find 7apples in some major shopping centres, but it is still worth the trip to their sunny St Kilda store. They make all the favourites, including a Pinot Noir flavour!

8. Aqua’s, Melbourne

Aqua’s soft serve has become a staple on Instagram feeds around the country. Flavours update every two weeks and they are particularly known for ringing layers of fairy floss around the cone.

9. Zero Gradi, Brunswick East

From the masters behind Gradi, this gelato definitely matches up to that award winning pizza. They don’t hold back with the servings and have Nutella on tap to give you the sweet hit you need.

10. Barbarella Gelato and Wine Bar, Melbourne

The title says it all. Settled into The Block Arcade, you can enjoy a glass of wine or pick from a selection of beers, whilst enjoying some incredible gelato. Flavours include mixes like pear & chocolate and salted coconut & mango.
