Taylor Swift has released a new song from her upcoming album, Lover, titled 'The Archer'.
The song, which will sit at track five in the album, is the most vulnerable tune we’ve heard so far from Taylor Swift during this era, and was teased in her You Need To Calm Down music video:
If you’re a fan of 1989, 'The Archer' sees a return of those retro synths, as well as Taylor’s delicate, soft vocals we hadn’t heard in 'ME!' or 'You Need To Calm Down'.
Earlier this year, Taylor teased that this album would be romantic, however, that didn’t necessarily mean sad songs couldn’t be romantic too - This track definitely fits that description.
Swifties will also remember that the fifth song on all her albums is usually her most vulnerable (Delicate, All Too Well, Dear John) and it sounds like the pattern is set to continue.
The lyrics are super personal and we warn you, it’s a sad one, so grab a tissue and take a listen:
What do you think of the new song?
