LATEST TFS UPDATE

Bushfire update - Thursday 31 January

Fire crews have spent another night patrolling bushfire affected areas.

At the Riveaux Road fire, crews continued to patrol and protect properties. There was some increased fire activity in the Kermandie area.
This morning an updated Emergency Warning was issued for the Lonnavale area including Denison Road, Woolleys Road and Lonnavale Road due to an increase in fire activity on that edge of the fire.

In the south Central Highlands, the Great Pine Tier fire activity remained quiet overnight with patrol crews extinguishing hotspots.

There were no reports of significant flare-ups around Zeehan and Rosebery. These fires remain at advice level.

Some rain was reported on fireground overnight but had little impact on the fires.

South westerly winds are forecast to remain for much of today with speeds of 30-35 km per hour.

Crews will focus efforts on protecting property and suppression in areas around Lonnavale, Judbury, Glen Huon and Franklin in the south and Penstock Lagoon, Shannon Tier, Miena and Liawenee.

Other crews will take advantage of the wind change to containment lines and attack the fires in the southeastern areas to prepare for expected northerly winds on Sunday

No further property losses have been confirmed from overnight. Impact assessments are still underway.
