Mackay Regional Council is waving in a new commercial interest. They're dipping their toes in the water to test the concept of building a surfing pool in the region. In an ordinary meeting yesterday Councilors agreed to call expressions of interest for the construction and operation of a surfing wave pool facility. Police are investigating a brazen burglary in South Mackay. It appears someone walked into an open back door in the early hours of Tuesday morning. They allegedly stole a laptop, iPad, sound bar, and two PlayStation 4 consoles. If you have any information call Policelink on 13 14 44.

It's almost time to get amongst the action at the new Mackay Aquatic and Recreation Complex. An official opening is scheduled for next weekend, on March 9th. It contains Olympic-standard aquatics and athletics facilities and a multi-use playing field. For more information on the grounds check the Mackay Council website.

Today’s the last chance to have our say on those Bush Fires across Mackay in November. The Queensland Government is wanting us to contribute to their review, with all submissions going to the Inspector-General. Fire and Emergency Services Minister Craig Crawford ha stressed the importance of us to all have a say.
