Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe confirmed one of the suicide bombers involved in the horrific Easter attacks studied in Australia.

The revelation comes at the Prime Minister shared authorities' plans making further arrests in coming days

The death toll for the Easter attacks has reached 359 and 58 people have already been arrested.

Mr Wickremesinghe said many of them "are well-educated and come from upper middle class and so they are financially independent".

He also warned further suspects are still at large and may be armed with explosives.

Authorities are still investigating if there are any overseas links to the attacks, with New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Adern quashing suggestions the attack was in response to the Christchurch terror attack.

“We have seen reports of the statement from the Sri Lankan minister of state for defence, alleging a link between the Easter Sunday terrorist attack and the March 15 attack in Christchurch,” a statement from Ms Ardern’s office said.

“We understand the Sri Lankan investigation into the attack is in its early stages. New Zealand has not yet seen any intelligence upon which such an assessment might be based.
