It'll soon be a slower trip for drivers on one of the busiest roads in Newcastle.
The RMS is lowering the speed limit from 70km/h to 60km/h along Newcastle Rd, Griffiths Rd and Thomas St between Wallsend and Hamilton.
The change comes into effect on Sunday March 11.
It follows a review of speed limits across the Hunter by the RMS.
“The RMS also advised that Newcastle Road has an extensive crash history that is significantly higher than other arterial roads around the State,” Wallsend MP Sonia Hornery said.
"I hope motorists heed the warning of the speed limit changes and that the NSW Police Force is willing to give motorists some leniency once the limit is reduced.”
