So much for the Spanish construction company currently building Sydney's light-rail to never being awarded a new multi-million dollar state government contract.

Health Infrastructure has reportedly given Acciona a $7.9 million contract for the new entry road to Macksville Hospital up the coast.

The contract did not go out to public tender, and was awarded to the company, who are now using the name Pacifico Acciona Ferrovial.

A Health Infrastructure spokeswoman told the Daily Telegraph the correct “procurement processes” had been followed.

“Direct Negotiation does not involve a tender process," she said.

"But is an accepted and appropriate form of procurement used in cases where specialist work is required.”

It comes as the light rail project continues to cause headaches across Sydney in the lead up to Christmas.
