Detectives from Victoria Police’s Eastern and Western regions have arrested six men in Echuca today as part of a joint investigation into a spate of burglaries over the past six months.

Police executed six warrants at Woodlands, Stawell, Paroo, Leichardt, Boothman Streets and Lady Augusta Road in Echuca about 6am. It follows an investigation into residential burglaries, aggravated burglaries and commercial burglaries which are believed to have occurred in the last few months in the region.

Police seized a yellow Holden Monaro, firearms, stolen tools, a stolen motorbike, firearms scope, a safe, a conducted energy device, a fire starter, rifle stock and an ammunition belt.

Police have arrested six men aged between 25 and 33 years of age, all from Echuca. They are currently being interviewed by police.

Wangaratta Inspector Kerrie Hicks said today’s arrests highlights the importance of collaborative investigation work by police from Moira, Campaspe and Shepparton Police Service Areas, the Eastern Region Crime Squad and the Central Victoria Response Unit in identifying and arresting repeat offenders.
